All six Sephiria weapons as wiki cards — range, playstyle, kit, and beginner notes live on each card (icons from community renders, rehosted). Anvil notes follow below.

Balanced cuts with shield-leaning safety. Best learning spine for Chapter 1.

Heavy hitboxes for packed rooms and stationary bosses.

Fast multi-hits that punish mistakes harder than Sword & Shield.

Kite elites and bosses without eating every melee telegraph.

Combo / sheath timing weapon — pairs with attack-speed boards.

Flame / Cold / Lightning area control once unlocked and MP-fed.
The all-rounder. Normal attacks teach spacing; specials and shield-leaning upgrades add safety. Many early Anvil branches push elemental blades, conductor-style lightning paths, or carrot novelty lines — pick the branch that matches Artifacts you already hold.
Also called Greatsword in short form. Slow wind-ups, big hitboxes, strong for clearing packs and pressuring bosses that stand still. Lightning and frost evolution lines show up often in community upgrade trees.
Speed and status. Rewards players who already dodge well. Flame / lightning dagger branches and “safe start” lines appear in Steam guide evolution lists — treat names as branch labels, not separate weapon types.
Keeps you off melee telegraphs. Manage reload / ammo-style upgrades carefully so you are not empty mid-boss. Ideal when Chapter 1 elites feel unfair up close.
Flow weapon: attack mode vs sheath / heavy timing, including projectile interacts on skilled reads. Pair with attack-speed and crit Artifacts once the timing clicks.
Magic spine for Flame / Cold / Lightning boards. MP pool and haste matter; companions and grimoires often pair well. Some Staff unlocks are gated — see the unlock section below.
Knowing the roster is step one — next is picking the right spine for *this* run.
Matched by build plan, shared topics, and guide progression — not random related links.
Choose from how you die, not from a screenshot of a late-game nuke. Mid-run pivots are expensive because Anvil history does not fully transfer.
| If you… | Take | Avoid early |
|---|---|---|
| Die to melee telegraphs | Crossbow or Staff (once unlocked) | Dagger |
| Want a forgiving first clear | Sword & Shield | Splitting into two spines |
| Like packing rooms fast | Steel Greatsword | Ultra-slow upgrades before dash upgrades |
| Already dash-cancel well | Dagger or Katana | Ignoring sustain Artifacts |
| Building elemental tags | Staff or matching elemental Anvil lines | Random physical-only fillers |
| Playing co-op support | Sword & Shield / Staff sustain leans | Glass dagger without a reviver |
Flame-leaning costumes pair with fire Anvil lines; lightning costumes with Staff / conductor branches. Do not reroll an entire weapon because a costume gives +5 elemental — the spine still has to feel good in your hands.
One player on Crossbow / Staff for safe damage, another on Greatsword for clears, works well. Trade Anvil priority so two players do not starve the same upgrade pool — see co-op guide.
Once the spine is chosen, Anvil is where Sephiria weapons actually diverge.
Anvil nodes are the forge. Each visit offers evolutions that rewrite normal, dash, or special attacks — often adding elemental damage, new projectiles, or resource trades (MP extend, charge weapons, etc.).

| Upgrade focus | What you get | Take when… |
|---|---|---|
| Normal attack rewrite | New swing pattern / on-hit effect | You spend most time left-clicking |
| Dash attack | Damage or utility on dash | You already dash for survival every fight |
| Special / charge | Big cooldown or MP spend tools | Bosses need a burst button |
| Elemental graft | Flame / Cold / Lightning riders | You own matching tags or costumes |
| Ammo / sustain | Reload, MP, or durability helpers | You run dry mid-room |
Community guides list deep trees — Sword & Shield lines like conductor / frost shard / carrot novelty; Greatsword crimson / frost / bone lines; Dagger flame / lightning / “safe start” chains. Treat those as examples of depth, not a complete patch-proof database.
Not every spine is available on a fresh save. Expect a mix of Destiny Inscription purchases, village progression, and cumulative event unlocks. Staff in particular has community guides dedicated to unlocking routes after Early Access / beta additions.
| Unlock path | What it usually gates | Beginner action |
|---|---|---|
| Destiny Inscription (Sapphires) | Weapons, costumes, village upgrades | Spend Sapphires after each death instead of hoarding forever |
| Village / chapter tasks | Workshops and quality-of-life | Repair / workshop nodes when offered |
| Cumulative events | Costumes and some combat toys | Track Journal counters (e.g. Blood Donation ×5) |
| In-run Anvil only | Evolutions of a weapon you already hold | Cannot unlock a missing base weapon mid-floor |
Pause → Journal shows weapons upgrades, Artifacts, Tablets, and Miracles you have seen. If a weapon is missing from selection, it is a meta unlock — not an Anvil RNG fail.

6: Sword & Shield, Steel Greatsword, Dagger, Crossbow, Katana, and Staff.
Sword & Shield first. Crossbow if melee rooms overwhelm you. Rankings shift — see the tier list.
Both refer to the same heavy melee spine. This site uses Steel Greatsword as the full community name and Greatsword as shorthand.
Visit Anvil nodes during a run and pick evolutions for the weapon you are holding. Journal tracks what you have unlocked for later runs.
You can, but Anvil history favors commitment. Switching late leaves both spines underbuilt.
Open the tier list, then builds. New players should still skim the beginner guide.
